Josh Layton - President / Construction Manager

As the President of Devonshire Custom Homes, Josh Layton has made it his personal goal that every customer, upon completion of their luxury custom home, will give his company a great reference. “I want to make sure my customers have a worry free, pleasant building experience. To get that perfect building experience, I make sure my customers are not only happy during construction, but by also providing a great quality home that they are happy with for years after they move in as well.”
Josh grew up in Tampa and is a huge Gator fan. He graduated from Tampa Jesuit High School and the University of Florida, M.E. Rinker School of Building Construction. Currently he is single, loves his Labradoodle, Colby and lives in the South Tampa area.
Josh has managed the construction of numerous custom homes and holds an active residential construction license. He has over 14 years experience in the field of construction and management, including working on concrete block and framing crews and commercial construction. In addition to being the President of Devonshire Custom Homes, Josh also has a very active role as one of Devonshire’s Construction Manager’s. By establishing a strong team that works together to integrate all their past experiences, Josh can proudly say that he is managing a successful building company during the current recession.
Ron Barton - Director of Construction

With Ron’s 51 + years in the construction industry he is an expert in all facets of construction. This is a man who knows what to look for when it comes to constructing a home. “I want every Devonshire custom home to be built solidly. I focus most of my time on making certain the structure of each and every home is of the highest quality.”
Ron has built thousands of multi-family and single-family homes ranging in size from 800 sq. ft. to 10,000 sq. ft. Ron previously owned his own building company, concrete and brick masonry company and framing company. He has managed a variety of commercial construction projects, including building a bridge in Virginia! This man has actually built two homes without any help. Ron’s overall scope of construction related experience is truly unique to the industry.
Ron grew up in Tazewell, Virginia. Growing up on a farm, he acquired an interest in collecting antique tractors. He has even had some on the job training in veterinary duties. After moving to Tampa in 1959, he married. Now he and his wife of 52 years now have six children, eleven grandchildren, eight great grand children.
As you can see Ron has a lot to be proud of. There are not many men like Ron in the world today. His loyalty and dependability are something to be recognized. The man hasn’t missed a day of work in 47 years. Now that impressive!
Debbie Layton - Construction Manager

Debbie Layton is one of the Construction Managers with Devonshire Custom Homes. She has 21 + years of talent in construction, management and real estate sales, Debbie takes great pleasure in saying “I am so proud of my children, Josh and Brooke, and the company my family and I have created. Together we have established hundreds of happy customers.”
Growing up in Boston Massachusetts, Debbie moved to Tampa in 1972 to attend the University of South Florida. After graduating, she moved on to get her license in real estate sales. Debbie has been married for over 30 years, lives in South Tampa with her three dogs and loves football, basketball and golf.
Debbie’s experience extends way beyond commercial leasing, sales and construction. She has worn many hats in the custom home industry. Debbie has coordinated the construction, design and decoration of many homes. She has managed the office of a luxury home builder, dealt with paying construction bills, obtaining insurance, negotiating with sub-contractors and has assisted with company-wide decision making with builders. “I really want my customers to have their dream home and I am always looking to eliminate the need for warranty related repairs. I have a very good attention to detail and try to deliver the perfect home to every customer.”
Debbie Carver - Construction Manager

Debbie Carver has been in the Customer Service and Construction Management field for over 6 years. Growing up in the construction industry, Debbie learned first hand from her father, uncles and brother all the ins and outs of the business. With her enthusiasm and keen attention to detail her goal is to deliver the perfect home to every customer. “I really want my customers to have their dream home and I am always looking to eliminate the need for warranty related repairs.”
Debbie is single with three grown children and a grandson, she truly loves animals. Some of her most proud accomplishments, outside of raising her beautiful family, are some of the incredible homes she has built and decorated. Though she has had the opportunity to manage the construction of numerous homes there are a couple that she is especially proud of. Those are the ones on Coffee Pot Blvd and on Snell Isle.
Another one of her many specialties are renovating old homes. Debbie is also experienced in Commercial construction and has managed human resources for a large company. She brings allot to Devonshire Custom Homes and we are proud to have her as part of our team.
Brooke Layton - Office Manager
Brooke Layton is the Office Manager at Devonshire Custom Homes. Growing up in a family of builders, Brooke has keen insight into the business and has brought fresh, new ideas to the company. Brooke said “My goal is to keep the office running smoothly and efficiently” - and that is exactly what she is doing. By suggesting several green energy alternative construction practices, Brooke has saved Devonshire’s customers and the company thousands of dollars. Thanks to Brooke, Devonshire, in coordination with TECO Energy, now include many of their cost saving construction techniques.
Brooke grew up right here in Florida and graduated from the University of South Florida. In college she studied contract law, enjoyed playing golf and was on the University of South Florida’s golf team. After college, Brooke went to work at a local law office. She lives in South Tampa with her sweet teacup poodle.
